Our Board Members
Ebbie graduated in 1982 with an MSc. Geology degree from State University in Utrecht in The Netherlands, and directly joined Shell and worked for them for 26 years till 2008.
This also has resulted in a number of foreign assignments abroad (Sultanate of Oman, USA, Malaysia, Gabon and Algeria).
From 2008-2014, Ebbie held the position of Managing Director Sasol EP International and managed Sasol Group global upstream business based in Johannesburg.
He held the position Chief Growth Officer at Maersk Oil from 2015-2017, located in Denmark. In that capacity he was accountable for the integrated Maersk Oil growth program including Global Exploration, Business Development and Acquisitions & Divestitures.
In 2018 he has started his own boutique advisory – Perpetuum Advisory – serving AP Møller Capital in building a pan-African infrastructure and energy portfolio.
He was appointed to the board of the WEIR Group in February 2019 and is an independent Non-Executive Director of the company. He is a member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee.
He served on the board of Orca Energy from 2019-2020 in the capacity of Non-Executive Director.
In 2021 he was appointed as Director and Non-Executive Chairman of Lumika Renewables.
Furthermore, he is a visiting lecturer at Wits University in Johannesburg and teaches at the African Energy Leadership program and acts as mentor/coach to a number of African growing business leaders.
Kim Thagaard Pedersen
APMC Vice President, Investments
Kim has more than 14 years of experience in M&A, consulting, and business development. After graduating from Copenhagen Business School, Kim joined a leading consultancy in 2006 where he successfully led engagements in shipping, logistics and private equity.
Subsequently he joined Maersk Line, where he was engaged in asset acquisitions worth app. USD 15bn, incl. the acquisition of a major shipping line in 2017. Kim joined A.P. Møller Capital originally as lead on building up finance / fund operations but subsequently transferred to the investment team, where he serves on the board of Lumika Renewables.
Managing Director, Cbi-Electric, Low Voltage
Terry is an Electrical Engineer with a Honours degree in Psychology and a Master of Philosophy in Applied Ethics.
He has formerly held the positions of Chief Executive Officer at Reid and Mitchell and Actom High Voltage Equipment, before becoming President of Joy Global Africa. Terry joined the Reunert Group in January 2019 as a Strategy Executive and was appointed to Managing Director: CBi-electric Low Voltage in May 2019.
On 1 October 2021, Terry was promoted to the Segment Head for Electrical Engineering and joined Reunert’s Group Executive Committee.
Reunert Group Chief Executive Officer
Alan completed a Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. He spent a short time in the consulting engineering fraternity before joining African Cables as a Design Engineer in 1997.
Alan held several management positions in the organisation before assuming responsibility for all commercial activity in February 2000. He was appointed Commercial Director in 2007 a position he held until being appointed Managing Director in February 2009. Alan was promoted to Managing Director of the CBI-electric segment on 25 October 2012.
On 21 November 2013 Alan was appointed as an executive director of the Reunert Board and as the Chief Executive Officer of Reunert on 1 October 2014.
Reunert Chief Financial Officer
Nick served as partner with Ernst and Young for 18 years before joining Transnet Freight Rail as chief financial officer in 2005. In addition to the normal aspects of the finance portfolio he chaired the investment committee and acquisition committees and was responsiblefor the negotiations of major commercial contracts.
In April 2012, Nick was appointed as group chief financial officer at Afrox Ltd. His responsibilities included the financial portfolio, treasury function, procurement and strategy. He joined Reunert as chief financial officer on 15 June 2015.
Jens has 20+ years of experience of principal investments and business development from the energy sector in industry and private equity. He joined A.P. Moller Capital from Denham Capital where he was the director of the Power Deal Team from 2012-2017, responsible for origination, analysis, structuring, valuation and execution of investments.
Our Executive Team
Chief Executive Officer
John has a Degree in Chemical Engineering from Birmingham University and a Post Graduate Diploma from IMD in Switzerland.
He previously worked for Sasol for 22 years culminating in an SVP position for its Oil and Gas division and close to two years with Globeleq, an African focused Independent Power Producer, as its Head of Business Operations in London.
He lived and worked in South Africa, England and India and worked on projects in the USA, Australia, Iran, Qatar, China, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, and Mozambique.
In Mozambique he was part of the team that developed the Mozambique natural gas project and led negotiations with the Mozambican authorities enabling the approval of Sasol’s Field Development Plan for the Production Sharing Agreement, a natural gas, light oil, and LPG concession in 2016.
Chief Financial Officer
Xikongomelo Maluleke is a qualified Chartered Accountant CA(SA) and holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Pretoria (GIBS). She is an experienced business leader with a demonstrated track record of delivering sustainable results in diverse industries, with over 15 years of experience.
After completing her articles with KPMG, Xikongomelo worked for various organizations including JD Group, Absa, and BPSA all in finance. Before joining Lumika Renewables, Xikongomelo held various roles at Shell Downstream South Africa (SDSA). In her most recent roles, she led SDSA Treasury, Regulatory Finance, Audit and Assurance, Internal and external reporting, all in the capacity of Finance Manager Treasury &Joint Venture. She has championed the initiative of energy transition that resulted in the strategic focus for SDSA to date while discharging her role as a Project Management Officer for Shell’s most Senior Executives Team. In her Economics Manager role, she has successfully co-delivered the SDSA loyalty programme business case which remains a success to date. Xikongomelo enjoys spending time with family and friends and is passionate about community uplifting.
Advisor Business Development
Chris has 20+ years of experience of business development and investments in the emerging markets, primarily in Africa and the Middle East including three successful “Start-Ups” in the Telecommunications and Distributed Power/Energy as a Service (“ESCO”) businesses.
Previously, he spent 9 years as a commodities trader on 5 different continents before becoming an entrepreneur within the Telecoms and renewable power sector in Africa and India. The last 12 years has been focused on the development of the distributed power and C&I segments across Africa, he has originated, built, invested, executed and managed start-ups in both East and West Africa in the solar, thermal and hybrid energy sectors.
Advisor Business Development
Sulanji has a BBA and a BA in political science and Philosophy from Cape Breton University, Canada, and an MBA from Aston University, United Kingdom.
Sulanji Siwale has over 20 years of investment experience in Africa, including transactions in the telecom, industrial technology, oil and gas, solar energy, financial services, and natural resources sectors.He is responsible for deal sourcing, execution, and monitoring of investments in clean energy and resource productivity across the continent of Africa.
Sulanji has worked across Africa, where he has held professional and senior management roles with Anglo American Corporation, Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) and GEF Management Corporation (USA). He also has extensive private equity investment experience in pan-African middle-market transactions.
Ándre has engineering degrees from Mines-Ponts, Paris and ETSII Universidad Politécnica de Madrid – two of the leading European engineering schools, majoring in Renewable Engineering.
He has Over 12 years experience in Renewable Engineering and Business Development in India and West Africa on projects from 200kWp solar rooftop mounted to 24MWp ground, grid connected and off-grid hybrid power plants.
His technical expertise is in complex hybrid microgrids, involving V-f stability and fuel saving optimization.
James has a Masters in Local Economic Development and Economics degrees from the University of Johannesburg. His applied research niche was in innovative finance and entrepreneurship, strongly inspired by the Jumpstart Our Business Startups programme.
He has 14 years working experience mostly in research and facilitation with interests in Entrepreneurship and the Economics of Small Businesses, pioneering impactful solutions in Southern Africa. Notably, amongst many, the simulation of investor expectations for a Township Stock Exchange in Gauteng Province, South Africa; this lead to a partnership with Matter Innovation UK. James, lectured Economics at the University of Johannesburg and is passionate about sustainability, knowledge economies and lifelong learning.
